Please take this post as a personal invitation to spend more time in nature and taking your movement skills outdoors. Notice how you feel before, during and after.

Here are a few ideas:

Take your resting squat in the woods. Enjoy the beautiful Autumn colours. Admire the light playing in the foliage. Let bird songs soothe you. Smell the earthy scents of the woods.

Make seasonal apple and pear crumble (squatting, standing plus fine motor skills) and... why not compost with the peelings?

Explore your local woods. Wear layers so you're not cold when you set off and peel off as needed. Take a flask of hot drink (ginger and honey is a favourite) if you're going to be a while.

Practise your kneeling and crawling skills on fallen trees. Careful not to slip!

Forage for sweet chestnuts, to practise your hip hinging, squatting, reaching and carrying skills. Remember to vary how you move as much as possible, to keep your body happy.

Wash them, dry them, make a thin cross in the middle and bake at 200 degrees for 20 minutes. Eat when cool.
Other things to forage in November: sloes, crab apple, rowan berries. This is my plan tomorrow!

Other ideas to make room for nature and movement: plant some trees - my plan for the next few Sundays! Do not hesitate to contact me if you'd like to join me!

If you have any more ideas for rewilding our bodies this autumn, feel free to share them in the comments.
